Collaboration...
... doesn’t just bring people together; it unites them. It’s what moves teams forward, boosting engagement, innovation, and efficiency. It shifts perspective. It shapes culture.
imagine...
... a room that is vibrant with discussion and laughter. A room where people feel heard, are empowered to speak up, and where innovative ideas emerge. I believe this is what collaboration looks, sounds, and feels like. I understand what it's like to be on a team that doesn't communicate or engage. I’ve been there and felt the frustration. I felt disheartened, like there was no way forward. But there was, and there is! We all deserve to be part of a room of engaged and inspired people who are creating and growing together. I believe collaboration is built on the foundation of connection. Let’s get that foundation started!

I spend alot of time talking to and listening to people, this workshop helped me learn how to do both of those things better, both with my ears and my eyes.
Hi! I am Brett Macdonald...
Hi! I am brett macdonald ...
I am passionate about bringing people together. My work, rooted in improv theatre, brings teams together to connect, collaborate and drive workplace performance. My method merges my experience in education and the arts. Through laughter and the power of play, my workshops offer an opportunity to shape - or reshape - essential business skills, comradery and culture. I love bringing people together, to help them feel valued, heard and connected... and to help them laugh. Like really laugh! Laugh with deep belly laughs that make your cheeks hurt! Because I believe laughter breaks down barriers - both within yourself and within a group.

Here's how!
The Foundation of the Workshops
The Foundation of the workshops
STEP 1: Self-Reflection
When we learn about ourselves we are more open and authentic with the people around us. We begin to see ourselves as part of a community.

STEP 2: Mindset Shift
With self-awareness we begin to shift our mindset from one of judgement, to one of curiosity. When we take a moment to notice, we develop a stronger sense of connection.

STEP 3: Group Connection
When a group feels connected, it leads to a sense of compassion and respect for each other. We begin to build trust. Connection is what brings a team together.

STEP 4: Collaboration
When a team is connected with trust and respect, they work and grow together with a strong sense of engagement. There is space for spontaneity and flexibility. Collaboration is what leads to innovation, constructive dialogue, shared learning and taking risks to discover new opportunities. Collaboration is what moves a team forward.

Applied Improv as a Workplace Tool
What improv teaches us is what workplaces need. Improv builds skills that have a lasting impact; it offers a skill set rooted in spontaneity and adaptability. Improv teaches us how to think on our feet, how to listen and observe what’s happening around us, and most importantly, how to respond.
Improv: A Fresh Approach
Improv: a fresh approach
Does the thought of Improv give you sweaty palms? Maybe it reminds you of the show Whose Line is it Anyway? You’re not alone in those reactions! And yet, improv is so much more than a comedic performance.
Improv is about using the skills of listening, spontaneity, creativity and curiosity to collaborate and create stories with others.

Brett is a bright and energetic force to be reckoned with, when it comes to improv and play. Her facilitation is inclusive and safe from the get-go and I’m always impressed with her depth and breadth of knowledge and experience inviting workshop attendees to get out of their heads and connect for the sake of it. I highly recommend working with (and getting to know) Brett Macdonald!
